Summertime is so sweet. Especially when my hardworking hubby gets a long overdue, extra long weekend. Brian works so hard, and he is a champ. He never complains about working and genuinely loves his job. I am proud of who is he always, but when he works those extra long hours day after day after day, I tend to get a little selfish. Yeah, I’m totally admitting it! I want him to spend time with our family, and I know he does too. We miss each other a lot in the spring/early summer because of his job. Its not uncommon for him to work fifteen hour days several (or several times several) days in a row during this busy season. The boys have gone many days in a row without seeing Brian at all. All that to say, he had an entire four days off! It was so beautiful to spend morning, afternoon, and evening with him and the children four days in a row. BLISS.
We went to the zoo. We saw the reindeer, lions, giraffes, camels, cheetahs, and monkeys. But the reindeer were the boys’ favorite! Haha. I kept telling them we would see many more amazing animals than the reindeer, but they did not want to leave their new antlered friends. Our trip was pretty short, and we needed to head back home because our tiniest peanut was way out of sorts. She is also teething, poor girl just wanted some peace and quiet, which was the exact opposite than what the zoo offered us.
We ended up going to the park Saturday night. Emery is sitting almost completely on her own now. She sat in the park and watched the boys run around and pick the clovers. They would run over and kiss her and then run off to find the next clover to pick for her. She’s a loved little girl.
Sunday was church, a visit with Brian’s aunt, uncle, and cousin from Arizona. Ohmyword they are some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Each time they come to visit, I always leave telling Brian that I wish we saw them more because they are so kind and fun and interesting to talk to.
Next we were off to my parents to spend time with my precious grandparents. The boys had a blast in the pool and loved their ice cream cones that Granny made them.
I practiced with my new camera lens and this sitting babe was my model. I hope she always goes along with crazy ideas. Brian got me a new lens because I enjoy taking pictures of the babies, and I love trying to capture the purest moments and their true personalities. It’s such a fun hobby, but I still have so much to learn.
The boys got up and we had donuts in the park. Two of the best things in life crammed into one moment. They were totally in heaven. The donut shop was closed, so we had to settle for bagged donuts from the grocery store. Donuts are donuts to these babes, and there was definitely no complaining.
Dinner at my parents was last on our list, and we had a blast visiting with my parents and brother & sister-in-law. The boys love Aunt Jess. Can you tell from this photo?
Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day!
Some of our best friends came over for the day. We spent the day smoking meat, chasing after our babies, playing in the water, and visiting. Oh my goodness. I praise God for our sweet friends, especially the ones who we’ve gone through each season of life with.
I’m so refreshed after our extra long weekend together. Now only three days until our next one!
