Emery is a full-blown mama’s girl. She loves to look at me, giggle with me, bury her face into my shoulders, and just be in my general area if not in my arms or sling. There were moments in her early life I never imagined we could possibly be so close, but I look back on those times with amazement because she is practically connected to me now. All that to say, Emery has recently started really loving on her daddy… mostly from a distance. But it’s still really precious.
As soon as Brian walks into the room, her eyes brighten and she puckers her little rosebud lips and soon makes the cutest smacking sound in his direction. At first we thought it was just a coincidence but now it happens nearly every time he comes close to her.
This morning Brian was preparing to leave for work and Emery was still in her room happily babbling to herself in her crib. Her door was slightly cracked open and as Brian was discussing his day with me, we heard her babbles subside and then heard her tiny lips smacking. She heard her daddy and started working those lips. We couldn’t help but laugh at the cuteness of the moment.
I hope we never forget this little lip-smacking phase of loving on Daddy from a distance. Someday I know she will be all about loving on him like a true daddy’s girl. But right now I love this “sweet, little now” moment because it won’t last.
Brian adores this sweet girl of ours. And I was so glad that we got these sweet photos of just him and her. I think they really show his love for her.
